## How to use it

1. **Enter basic salary.** Enter your basic monthly salary in QAR, excluding allowances.
2. **Enter length of service.** Enter completed years and additional months of continuous service.
3. **Read the estimate.** The calculator applies the statutory minimum of 21 days of basic salary per year.

## How the Qatar gratuity calculation works

Under **Article 54 of Qatar Labour Law No. 14 of 2004**, private-sector employees who complete at least one year of continuous service are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity of **not less than three weeks’ basic wage for each year of service**. Employment contracts can agree a higher rate.

        - **Each year of service:** at least 21 days (three weeks) of basic salary.

        - **Daily wage:** basic monthly salary ÷ 30.

        - **Resignation vs termination:** the same minimum applies to both.

        - **Upper limit:** the law sets a minimum, not a maximum. Confirm any cap in your contract.

        - **Excluded:** housing, transport and other allowances.

### Worked example

An employee on **QAR 6,000 basic monthly salary** with **5 years** of service:

| Input | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Daily wage | QAR 6,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 200 |
| Days owed | 21 × 5 years = 105 days |
| Gratuity | 105 × QAR 200 = QAR 21,000 |

## Frequently asked questions

### How is end-of-service gratuity calculated in Qatar?

At least 21 days (three weeks) of basic salary per year of service: basic ÷ 30 × 21 × years. Source: Article 54, Qatar Labour Law No. 14 of 2004.

### Does resigning reduce gratuity in Qatar?

No. The statutory minimum applies equally to resignation and termination, unlike Saudi Arabia’s tiered reduction. Breaching a contractual notice period can still affect final dues.

### Is there a minimum service period for gratuity in Qatar?

Yes. At least one full year of continuous service with the same employer is required.

### Is Qatar gratuity capped?

The law sets a minimum entitlement rather than a maximum. Check your contract for any agreed limit and confirm with the Ministry of Labour for long tenures.
